Below are some extra FAQ specific for the site:


How to add/modify publication lists:

  • Listed in Publication page:
  • Listed in any page include your profile web page (note ‘⌈’ = ‘[‘):

How to add media files to pages/posts:

  • Images using WordPress Media Library:
    1. Placing your cursor in the place in the text where you want the image to appear.
    2. Click the Add Media button.
    3. Add or Select Your Image.
    4. Inserting the image.
  • Videos using University Media Publishing (Recommended):
    1. Having your movies ready, the files must be mp4 or mov format.
    2. Go to the University Media Publishing.
    3. Select your file to upload by the ‘Select file’ button at the top of the form.
    4. Read and accept the copyright acknowledgment by selecting the tick box above the Publish button; and press the button.
    5. On completion of your upload the file will be made compliant with UOA web servers and the uploader will be sent an email with instructions on how to the enable publishing of the file.
    6. Navigate into your WordPress blog post that you are editing. Make sure you are using the “text” editor and not the visual editor.
    7. Paste the embed code you’ve been sent from Media Publishing to where you want the video to appear.
    8. Save your draft and then preview to make sure it looks as you want.
  • Video using YouTube:
    1. Navigate to the YouTube video that you want to place within your blog post.
    2. Click on the “share” option beneath the video.
    3. Click the “embed” option.
    4. Check the options below as you may also want to unclick where it says “Show suggested videos when the video finishes.”
    5. Copy the highlighted text when you’re done.
    6. Navigate into your WordPress blog post that you are editing. Make sure you are using the “text” editor and not the visual editor.
    7. Paste the embed code you’ve copied at YouTube where you want the video to appear.
    8. Save your draft and then preview to make sure it looks as you want.

How to add a new page/project:

  • New Page:
    1. From Dashboard, admin user select Pages>> Add New.
    2. Enter title and descriptions.
    3. Attach media files if required.
    4. Press Publish.
  • New Project:
    1. From Dashboard, admin user select Posts >> Add New.
    2. Enter title and descriptions.
    3. Attach media files if required.
    4. Select Categories as Projects on the right hand side panel.
    5. Press Publish.

Summary of Roles:

  • Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features.
  • Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
  • Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
  • Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
  • Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
  • Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.
